5 x wrap addict – let’s get to know each other better!

Post

We won’t be lying if we say they accepted our invitation without a moment’s hesitation, which made us incredibly happy. Everything that followed – the St Nicholas’ Day meet-up at LennyLamb, the live stream, the photo shoot – was a wonderful adventure for Lenny’s team. When they left, LL felt empty. So we decided to keep a little bit of them with us by asking them to describe their babywearing stories. Before, they barely knew of each other; after St Nicholas’ Day at Lenny’s they left as close friends. We wanted to highlight that bond by mischievously asking them not to contact each other while answering the questions of our “interview” form. Dear ladies! The more you missed that contact, the prouder Lenny is of himself for coming up with the idea for such a wonderful meet-up!

Lenny’s questions are answered by Anna Dzwonkowska-Pucia:

  • What I do in life: I try to show the beauty of the world to my five children, and I sing in a band that plays music somewhere between jazz, folk and electronica, promoting our region. As a sociologist, I observe the world and draw conclusions from it, and in my spare time I’m a typesetter – I put together on the computer what people bring me in separate files, creating publications as well as small things like posters, leaflets, brochures and business cards.
  • I’ve known LennyLamb for a year.
  • The first person I saw with a wrap was: a random person on the Internet.
  • Our first encounter with a wrap could be described as: this probably won’t work…
  • This many wraps have passed through my hands: loads! I lost count. Maybe 150?
  • I think my hands have tied a wrap this many times: on average, at least 1,000 times!
  • 3 reasons why I love wraps: closeness to my baby, free hands and... they’re sooooo beautiful!
  • I love my favourite wrap for... its pattern, colour, blend and gsm. But how to choose just one? I don’t know if that’s possible... Symphony Desire with merino, right after it Symphony Euphoria, Symphony Sunset with tussah, Symphony Pure Joy with linen, and then, outside the Symphonies, Herbarium Old Times with 70% merino, Lovka, and now I’ve fallen in love with Love Hormones.
  • When my little passenger finally runs off, this is what I’ll do with my wrap(s): it’s already happening – the scissors are out. I’m turning wraps into skirts, wraps, cardigans, bows, bow ties, notebooks and bags.
  • Other mums are... necessary to me.
  • I’d also like to say that...: My first encounter with a wrap was a stretchy wrap. No consultants, no groups – a friend gave it to me, showed me on herself how to wrap a baby, and that was it... After my baby was born I tried a few times, but I got discouraged. Only later, with my next baby, did I start getting interested. But I still didn’t know there was a local group or consultants nearby. Almost 5 months went by like that, until a trip without a stroller forced me to get something quickly. I wrote pleading posts: who can help me learn? I posted in a mums’ group and that’s how I discovered we had local groups. It had to be quick. The consultant I found was at my place 2 days later and... that same day I ordered my first wrap. Once I’d learned to tie it properly, I fell head over heels. I bought, touched and tied until I was out of breath. After all, it’s my fifth child and I have to enjoy these “rags” while I can. Now we’re cutting down, with great pain. There’s less and less carrying. Even yesterday evening, at the sight of the wrap, my little one shouted, “No sleep, no sleep!” But she was persuaded that we’d just cuddle for a moment, and those sweet 13 kg fell asleep in the wrap...

Lenny’s questions are answered by Marta Kinowska:

  • What I do in life: I’m a mum of 3 boys, a musician by training and by passion. Professionally, I work in heavy industry as a project manager. Outside work, I ride a motorbike and do sports.
  • I’ve known LennyLamb for 3 years.
  • The first person I saw with a wrap was a friend of mine who had a premature baby.
  • Our first encounter with a wrap could be described as: this tying is exhausting! Why is there so much fabric?
  • This many wraps have passed through my hands: I can’t count them, but it would be in the hundreds.
  • I think my hands have tied a wrap this many times: around 1,000, I think.
  • 3 reasons why I love wraps: They’re practical! With the wrap tied, I still have both hands free – I can eat, play with the older ones, drink a hot cup of tea. Secondly, they’re beautiful! And the Symphonies are the most beautiful of all. Third reason: closeness.
  • I love my favourite wrap, which is definitely Symphony Euphoria, for its pattern, colours and blend.
  • When my little passenger finally runs off, this is what I’ll do with my wrap(s): I’m planning lots of different sewing projects. I already have a pile of bags and other bits, and I’m planning clothes too. I already have a shawl.
  • Other mums are... necessary to me

Lenny’s questions are answered by Katarzyna Kustosz-Burnac:

  • What I do in life: Right now I’m a full-time mum. It’s a completely new experience for me. I’ve always been very active professionally and quickly got back to full speed after maternity leave. This year we moved to Gdańsk and I stayed home on parental leave to help the children settle in. But I can’t live without contact with people, so I’m checking whether the passion I’ve had for 15 years can become my job for life. I love photography – it has always given me an escape from the daily rush. And now I combine my two passions: photography and wraps.
  • I’ve known LennyLamb for 3 years.
  • The first person I saw with a wrap was: Kamila – a young mum who carried her baby in a wrap in my small town. Kamila came to my rescue by lending me my first LennyLamb wrap so I’d have something to carry in after a workshop with a consultant. And she was the first wrap addict I met who had a stash of LennyLamb wraps. Back then I was even afraid to touch her silk wrap because it seemed so terribly expensive. And then everything changed.
  • Our first encounter with a wrap could be described as: love at first sight.
  • This many wraps have passed through my hands: Honestly, I don’t know... More than a hundred, fewer than a thousand (so far).
  • I think my hands have tied a wrap this many times: somewhere between 2 and 4 thousand. I’ve been carrying for 3 years. Every day. At least once a day.
  • 3 reasons why I love wraps: They made everyday life with two children easier. They give closeness with my child. They’re beautiful. You can go wilder with them than with shoes and handbags.
  • I love my favourite wrap for... I loved every favourite wrap because it was soft, carried well and was beautiful. Just one? That’s a very difficult question. I have a soft spot for my first one, Little Herringbone Imagination. That wrap is still being passed around the family. I also have a soft spot for my first wrap love, Symphony Rainbow Dark. When Tośka was older, bourette was wonderful for carrying – I adored Swallows above the Clouds and Symphony Sweetness. And the most beautiful of all the ones I’ve had were probably Dragonflies Rainbow Dark. Because of its colours and blend, I adore Symphony Desire. It’s perfect for my three-year-old.
  • When my little passenger finally runs off, this is what I’ll do with my wrap(s): She won’t run off. She’s three. We carry every day. When I can no longer lift her, I’ll turn the wraps into shawls, bags and skirts. And I’ll put some away and give them to my daughter when she’s pregnant.
  • Other mums are... necessary to me.
  • I’d also like to say that...: I love Lenny Lamb wraps. I adore them for their patterns and colour gradations. Your cotton is the best in the world. And the bourette is wonderful too. I thought I was team Symphony. But when we started reminiscing, it turned out I love Dragonflies, Swallows, Colours, Lovka and the rainbow dark gradation just as much.

Lenny’s questions are answered by Agata Nagórniewicz:

  • What I do in life: I’m a mum of three and a babywearing consultant
  • I’ve known LennyLamb for 2 years
  • The first person I saw with a wrap was Ania, the first babywearing consultant in my town.
  • Our first encounter with a wrap could be described as: love at first sight
  • This many wraps have passed through my hands: Oh my! I have no idea, but lots!
  • I think my hands have tied a wrap this many times: Over 2 years of carrying, let’s say once a day, that makes about 700 times, plus the tying I do as a consultant, so looooooooots!
  • 3 reasons why I love wraps: Wraps let me get back on track as an activist and community worker, let me live actively again and brought a lot of good to me and my children – I’m grateful to that “piece of cloth” for it.
  • I love my favourite wrap, which is a Symphony, for... its colours and blend. The first and most sentimental one is Rainbow Dark, because it was our first serious wrap that cost a fortune (300 zł almost 2 years ago was a fortune). Now my absolute favourites, which are in my stash, are Desire, Sunset and Ice.
  • When my little passenger finally runs off, this is what I’ll do with my wrap(s): I’ll keep admiring them on the shelf, because I don’t have the heart to cut them.
  • Other mums are... necessary to me.
  • I’d also like to say that...: I’m full of gratitude for the day I saw a wrap in action. I’m grateful that Wiola was there for me (a girl who carried children who weren’t her own but her sister’s) – she gave me the push to carry even more. I’m grateful for 3 Symphony preorders during our babywearing time, and I’m grateful for every moment, event and friendship of the last two years. I’m grateful to my friends from the Absolutna Bliskość (Absolute Closeness) Association for our work together. I’m grateful to my husband for turning a blind eye to my craziness and sometimes even supporting my most absurd ideas, because he knows they matter to me. I’m grateful that Lenny lives so close to me and that I was able to meet the wonderful people who work or have worked on LL’s success: Joanna and Michał, Kasia and Piotr, Ewa, Edyta, Basia, Iwa, Asia M, Sebastian, Claudia and others whose names I can’t possibly remember – thank you for your attitude to your work and your dedication. It’s wonderful!

Lenny’s questions are answered by Katarzyna Czarnecka:

  • What I do in life: I’m a mum and a scientist, and together with my husband I run Nutka Cafe, a family café in Warsaw’s Wola district.
  • I’ve known LennyLamb for 3 years.
  • The first person I saw with a wrap was Anna, a school friend and babywearing consultant. When I saw her in action, my children were already big. I felt a pang of envy. Luckily, I too got to experience the joy of babywearing.
  • Our first encounter with a wrap could be described as: Why didn’t I know about this before? It was a bittersweet thought. If I had known about wraps with my first child, many things might have turned out differently. Fortunately, I discovered them with my third.
  • This many wraps have passed through my hands: Definitely over 200.
  • I think my hands have tied a wrap this many times: Close to a thousand, I think. Let me count: we’ve been wrapping for over two years, and in the first year it was even several times a day...
  • 3 reasons why I love wraps: Closeness, convenience, beauty.
  • I love my favourite wrap for... the memories tied to it (Lenny chips in: pun intended). But it’s hard for me to pick one. My favourites are probably Painted Feathers Rainbow Dark from LL – I have the most wonderful memories connected with them. But I also love Prism, Herbarium, Folk Hearts with tussah, my first Snow Queen... It’s hard to decide...
  • When my little passenger finally runs off, this is what I’ll do with my wrap(s): I’ll sell some, some will become something beautiful as a keepsake, and I’ll keep a few forever in a secret hiding place.
  • Other mums are... essential and close to me. Motherhood changes the way you see the world and other people. Mums have to stick together.
  • I’d also like to say that...: Thank you for being there.

And what would you say, dear readers, if this happened to you? Lenny burst into tears of emotion, and we all wrapped ourselves in love hormones and are flying sky-hiiiiiigh. You can do it too. You can wrap yourself in Love Hormones too. Or put on Wings.

And finally, we’ll say it in a whisper, because up close you can hear a whisper: ladies, thank you (and your kids) from the bottom of our hearts!
